What’s New for September

New Fall Menu Items
Are you ready for fall? We sure are. Our menus take a rustic turn this September, with the addition of classics like a Wild Mushroom Pizza. This savory pie combines a ragoût of local mushrooms with caramelized onions, roasted garlic, crème fraiche, salt and pepper on our hand-tossed dough.

September Wine of the Month
Earthy, rustic foods like our Wild Mushroom pizza pair perfectly with our Wine of the Month, an earthy Cotes du Rhone from Edmond Burle in La France. From one of our favorite producers in France, this old-school red (Syrah & Grenache) is from organically grown grapes with no fining or filtering. The Burle brother’s hands-off approach yields a wine of aromatic earthiness, clack pepper, berry, plum and smoke flavors with a long  finish. Easily one of the best values in France’s Rhone Valley.
Available for $13.95 at Elephants on NW 22nd, Elephants on Corbett and Flying Elephants at Fox Tower
Beer-toberfest
Nothing in the Northwest is earthier than fresh hops. And September frames these flowers in all their sticky, aromatic glory. All our local breweries start producing small batch beers in bottles and some hard-to-find draft releases, and Elephants is the place to find your favorites. And if you prefer your oat sodas from further afield, have no fear – Elephants has got you covered. Because mid-September marks the beginning of Oktoberfest, and our carefully curated collection of German and Austrian brews pair perfectly with your bratwurst.

Ninkasi Brewing’s “Beer for Firefighters”
As if there wasn’t enough to celebrate, ale-wise, our friends at Ninkasi have given you another reason to raise a pint. Their “Funds for Firefighters” charity organization supports families in our community by donating five dollars from every Ninkasi keg sold to the Portland Firefighters Fund. The only thing you should do? Come to one of our three locations serving the good stuff.
Grab a pint at Elephants on NW 22nd, Elephants on Corbett and Flying Elephants at South Waterfront and drink your fill!
Jewish High Holidays
September brings celebrations galore, none more important than the Jewish High Holidays. Elephants is always happy to share in your Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur remembrances, with classics like brisket, tsimmes and latkes. And don’t forget dessert – our macarons and macaroons make for the perfect ending to your holiday feast.
