Strange Brew: Unique Beers

two bottles of beer

We got these four delicious strange new beers at the bar available by the bottle. Come up to NW 22nd and try one--or all of these unique brews.
Scotch De Silly:                                                                                  ABV: 8
Serve in a chilled HIGH GRAVITY glass. This one won’t give you much head so pour vigorously.
Brasserie de Silly has been brewing beer in Silly, Belgium since 1850.
The First World War destroyed most of the hops in Belgium. A Scottish brewer offered the English Kent hops, but he wanted to stay and show Brasserie de Silly how to make a Scottish beer with them.
The difference of a Scotch Ale and a Wee Heavy is regional. Scotch Ale is the English’s version of a Wee Heavy, or as we would say “Scottish Fusion”.
Petrus Aged Pale Ale:                                                                        ABV: 7.3
Serve in a room temperature TULIP.
Aged? Many beers have a long maturation, but this one has only 24-36 months in oak barrels.
Pale? This beer has an old gold to bronze color, rather than the burgundy more common in the breweries of West Flanders.  This is the ‘mother beer,’ used in various quantities to blend with the other Petrus beers, and to give them their unique and very distinctive taste.  This mother beer is rather sour with a bite like the best Brut Champagnes.  A connoisseur’s delight!
Hitachino Nest:                                                                                  ABV: 5.5
Serve in a room temperature TULIP.
A refreshing mildly hopped Belgian styled beer with a complex flavor of coriander, orange peel, nutmeg. White Ale has won gold medals at several beer competition in U.K. and U.S. This is one of HITACHINO's top-selling beers both in Japan and U.S.
Delirium Tremens:                                                                             ABV: 8.5
Serve in a room temperature TULIP.
Colour and sight: pale blond, the fine and regular effervesce ensures a fine and stable head.
Scent: Slightly malty, a nice touch of alcohol, spicy.
Flavour: Feels like the sound shot of alcohol is igniting the mouth. In reality the tongue and palate are warmed. The taste is characterized by its roundness. The aftertaste is strong, long-lasting and dry bitter.
